Mark is a theatre director and educator who has worked with young people across the US and the UK. Recent credits include work at the Hanover Theatre and Conservatory, the NEA-spotlighted Traveling Players Ensemble, associate director positions on a UK National Tour, and on multiple productions at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Mark holds an MFA in Theatre Directing from the University of London, Birkbeck.
Prior to pursuing their studies, they lived and worked in Maine as Executive Artistic Director of Stage East in Eastport - a position which evolved out of their work as an Island Institute fellow in that same community. Before arriving in Maine, Mark studied at Dell’Arte International, a physical and devised theatre school in Humboldt County, California. There Mark also worked with young people during the program’s culminating Rural Residency project, a two-week placement in an unincorporated territory focused on providing arts opportunities to the community. Mark’s earliest work found them at Youth Theatre at the University of Utah where, for nearly a decade, they directed two productions each season with 8-12 and 13-18 years olds, respectively.
Theatre helped Mark find their confidence, creativity, and autonomy when they were young, and they love helping students find their own strengths through theatre. They’re thrilled to be joining the Riley School’s staff and look forward to getting to know the community.
