Equity & Belonging

Riley School is committed to fostering a community that respects each of it members, honoring their diversity of race, ethnicity, nation of origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and socioeconomic status.

  • We embrace the challenge of continuing to create a school that is more diverse, equitable, and just. We pledge to examine the systems of power, privilege, and oppression in our school and society. We know that this is an ongoing and long-term commitment and that we will always have room to grow and improve. We pledge to hear and acknowledge our opportunities to improve and to change our policies, process, and curriculum to promote Equity and Belonging at the Riley School.

  • At the Riley School, children are at the center of all learning. We value, respect, and honor the differences and perspectives of every child. We see the possibilities within each child and believe that every child has the right to feel safe, be heard, and have ownership of their education and learning community.

We believe in creating a learning environment that relies on historical truths and rejects narratives that seek to obfuscate challenging topics. We encourage children to expand their view by seeking to explore and acknowledge the perspectives of all people. Riley children are expected to have a commitment to community and foster compassion, generosity, and integrity.

  • The school campus was developed in a manner to be conducive to self exploration as well as innate and individualized learning. All of our facilities are intentionally gender neutral.
