FRIDAY ACTIVITIES & MINI COURSES

True to our progressive roots and mission, Riley allows all students to select Friday Activities each week and Mini Courses each term. Children and faculty come up with Friday Activities through lively discussion, with some options repeating weekly and others occurring once or twice. In the winter, kids can go skiing at the Camden Snow Bowl or ice skating at Midcoast Rec Center. During other times of year, kids may choose from cooking, yoga, hygge, visiting the cats at Pope Humane, or a number of other fun opportunities.

Mini Courses run for 6 weeks and range from stop-motion movies, to the stock market game, to cooking science, improv troupe, and much more. At the end of the 6-weeks, the kids share what they learned with the rest of the school and show examples of any work that may have resulted.

The last three years at Riley have been wonderful, allowing our daughter to explore her strengths and weaknesses in a safe environment. It has helped her become the confident young lady she is showing now and will help her in her transition to high school.
