Reading and spelling
Nan Sulin, Library Assistant, worked in International Development Assistance in Africa and for PVOs in New York and abroad. Nan has been involved with Riley since her daughter enrolled in mid- 2000. She volunteered in the Lower School and helped develop the “College for Kids” summer program with funding from MBNA. She provides full time support to the Library and Language Arts program, working one on one with children in reading, writing, grammar and handwriting. Children develop their skills by reading aloud in small groups and writing and editing their work with her guidance. She has recently completed training using the Fountas and Pinnel approach to support struggling readers. Nan has been an active member of the Board of Trustees since 2004.
